A team of scientists aboard the international space station discover an evolving alien life form. Life on Earth is now destined for Mars’s fate, extinction.
Life was a great movie. First you have to start with this massive ensemble. Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, and Rebecca Ferguson all do a tremendous job. They all wear that fear that’s necessary very well. Reynolds is doing that comedic relief thing, and it’s a good change of pace for the serious tone that the film has overall.
Daniel Espinosa did a fantastic job building tension. As Calvin, the life form, begins to take over, it’s a crazy journey. The visuals on Calvin are incredible. This really looks like a life like being that you’d find on a planet. I don’t want to give too much away, but this thing just takes over the movie and has you on the edge of your seat. The credit for building that fear goes to Espinosa for sure.
Life is a thrilling movie from start to finish. I wasn’t expecting it to be as suspenseful as it was. It takes you on a ride and it doesn’t let you go until the credits roll.
