When the CEO (Jennifer Anniston) threatens to close her party hungry brother’s branch, he (T.J. Miller) and his Chief Technical Officer (Jason Bateman) must rally the troops and put together a Christmas party for the ages to impress a branch saving client.
Office Christmas Party was a pleasant surprise. There are plenty of laughs to be had with this stellar cast. Bateman and Miller kill it in their roles. They do their typical act, but it was perfect for this movie. T.J. Miller especially shines in this film. He’s never really stared and been at the forefront of a lot of films, but he’s in virtually every scene, and the task doesn’t phase him one bit. We saw in Deadpool that Miller is a comedic powerhouse, Office Christmas Party really solidifies that.
Olivia Munn also has a big role here as the hacker, innovative, and big idea person to the company. She really shines in these comedies as well. Ride Along 2 in itself wasn’t all that great but she was the bright spot for me. I think these movies are her niche for sure. Jennifer Aniston really just plays the hard headed boss, she fit in that role but it wasn’t anything note worthy. Kate McKinnon really nails it as the over the top HR manager. She also just nails her role. Her delivery is on point. McKinnon has really funny banter with the whole cast. Her and Miller are the stand outs without a doubt.
Office Christmas Party isn’t going to blow anyone away. It’s a really fun time at the movies, with great perform from familiar stars of the genre. It’s definitely worth a watch if you’re into Bateman and Aniston’s style.
