“Moana”-Review:

Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) uses her navigational skills to set sail for the forbidden island. She is joined by her long time hero, demi-god Maui (Dwayne Johnson).

When the first few trailers for Moana dropped, I was hooked. Johnson looks like he has a handle on this role. Moana will either be one of the best of the year, or Disney filler at the end of the year.

Moana is right up there with the best animated films of the year. I think the standout is the music first and foremost. Every song is catchy and hooks you right away. I was blown out of the water by how incredible the music is.

The voice acting is superb, by the two leads especially. The Rock is the embodiment of his character. They mesh so well together. You couldn’t have picked a better character for him to voice. The newcomer is a dazzler as well. Auli’i Cravahlo is going to be a superstar. Her voice is beautiful. Moana is a lovable character that anyone can root for. The chemistry between the two of them is infectious.

The story is predictable at times. It doesn’t matter because the execution is perfect. The movie flys by, and it’s fun throughout.
There’s a triumphant feeling you get after watching it. Also, the short they ran before this was sensational. Moana is a must see this year.
